Shout Out to Our Guides and Drivers!

We would be totally remiss if we didn’t recognize what amazing guides and drivers we had in each city we visited.

Driving in India is not for the faint of heart and certainly not for Stratton and most definitely not me.  Stratton did a post earlier about the challenges of driving in India which was on point.  Everything you have ever heard about driving there is absolutely true – so many cars, motorcycles, cows, people and there appears to be no real right of way rules – everyone just kind of figures it out!  Red lights?  No such thing!

The driving in Bhutan and Nepal was less stressful than in India, but remember at that point we were in the Himalayas!  Always another mountain to cross and they weren’t without motorbikes, pedestrians and cows either.  Hang and Gurung traveled with us for four days in Bhutan which provided an opportunity to get to know them and learn about their lives and families which always makes it more special to me.

And the guides make such a difference in your journey.  Not only do they bring their knowledge about the site you are visiting but they bring their personal stories which provide a new level of understanding about the culture of the city and country.

We are so thankful for everyone from the person who met us when we arrived in Delhi and whisked us through immigration ensuring we were in the right queue to the last person who helped us check in for our return home and all the amazing people who were there to answer all our questions and to stop at any point for Stratton to take another picture.  We are grateful for your friendship and skills! We would like to recognize each of them with a sense of gratitude for your patience, knowledge and ability to explain so many new things in a way that allowed us to understand your country and culture a little better.
