New Feature – Doorways & Windows of the World

Introducing a new feature entitled “Doorways & Windows of the World” (DWW)!

Each doorway invites us to wonder: Who lives behind it? What stories have passed through? Every window offers a glimpse—of life within, of the soul of a place, of the past looking out on the present. This is a tribute to the thresholds of the world. Open, closed, locked, or wide ajar—they are the unsung storytellers of human history.

Set in stone above this ancient door in the medieval city of Rhodes is the year 1492—an echo of a world in upheaval. While Columbus set sail into the unknown, and Spain expelled its Jewish population, the Knights Hospitaller fortified their stronghold against an encroaching Ottoman tide. This was the age of crusaders and caravels, of lost orders and lingering legends. The door likely belonged to the French Langue of the Order—its chiseled date a silent sentinel of shifting empires and enduring stone.
