For my 70th birthday, I’ve chosen a destination as storied and vibrant as life itself—fabled Marrakesh. We’ve been to Casablanca but that’s the only place we’ve been in Morocco.
Debbie chose exotic Zanzibar for her celebration, a dream of spice-laden breezes and Indian Ocean sunsets. For me, it’s Marrakesh—a city that has captured imaginations for centuries. I wanted a place steeped in history, color, and mystery. A place where ancient souks wind through time, where desert sands meet snowcapped peaks, and where every alleyway whispers stories from the past.
But this trip is more than Marrakesh alone. We’re setting out to explore the full richness of Morocco—from the Atlas Mountains to the Sahara, from imperial cities to remote Berber villages. This isn’t just a birthday; it’s a celebration of curiosity, vitality, and still being just getting started at 70.
Every day is a training day for the rest of our lives.
