Today for us felt like a dream floating on turquoise water in the Great Barrier Reef off Cairns. Snorkeling in the Reef is right up there with the greatest experiences of my life.
We set out aboard a sleek catamaran yacht, the salt-sweet breeze of the Coral Sea brushing our faces as the coastline slipped away behind us. Soon, nothing remained but endless blue and the promise of adventure on the horizon.
McKay Reef rose like a hidden world beneath us — one of the Great Barrier Reef’s breathtaking jewels. Far more beating than we ever imagined. Mask on, fins tight, we slipped into a cathedral of color. Schools of tropical fish shimmered like confetti in the sunlight. Coral gardens sprawled below, vibrant and alive, each shape stranger and more beautiful than the last. Sea turtles glided past like ancient guardians, unbothered by our awe.
Back on deck, we lounged in the warm sun, sipping cool drinks and sharing laughter with new friends, the catamaran gently slicing through calm waves. It was one of those rare days where time slows down and every moment feels like a gift.
We’re reminded again and again: the world is full of wonder — and we’re just getting started exploring it.
