Australia and New Zealand: A Journey Across Lands and Seas

Our month-long adventure across Australia and New Zealand has been nothing short of extraordinary. It began in vibrant Sydney, where we climbed the iconic Harbour Bridge, explored the Opera House (seeing a show completedthe experience), and cruised its sparkling harbor. From there, we ventured into the Blue Mountains, where mist rolled over eucalyptus forests and the Three Sisters stood guard in timeless beauty.

Next, we flew to the heart of the continent — Uluru, the spiritual red center of Australia. Watching sunrise and sunset paint the great rock in shades of fire and gold was a moving reminder of the sacred connection the Aboriginal people have with this land. I fell in live with Aboriginal painting and yearned to learn more about these mysterious and spiritual indigenous people who’ve inhabited the continent for over 60,000 years. I am still under the spell cast by Uluru. This year I’ve experienced Uhuru peak in Tanzania and Uluru.

From the desert we journeyed to the sea — snorkeling among vibrant coral and marine life in the Great Barrier Reef, one of the planet’s most breathtaking wonders and one of my top life experiences. Port Douglas, with its serene Four Mile Beach, and the ancient Daintree Rainforest, where reef meets rainforest, completed our unforgettable Australian land journey. We love the people and culture of Australia, our sixth continent and will not doubt return as there is just so much to see.

Back in Sydney, we boarded our ship, the Celebrity Edge, bound for New Zealand, a land of dramatic landscapes and living legend. We sailed through the majestic fiords, including mystical Milford Sound, where waterfalls tumbled down sheer cliffs into misty waters. In Dunedin, we met the charming blue penguins and soaring albatross on the Otago PeninsulaChristchurch told a story of resilience, with beautiful new architecture rising from the memories of past earthquakes.

Then we ventured into Middle-earth, visiting the spectacular film locations of The Lord of the Rings, and on to Rotorua, where geysers roar and the rich Māori culture thrives. From Auckland we explored caves and then traveled north to the Bay of Islands, where the treaty that created New Zealand was signed — a sacred moment in its history.

Now, back in Sydney once again, we set sail for a short cruise to Tasmania, eager to discover even more of this vast and wondrous corner of the world.

Each stop has been a reminder that travel is not just about distance — it’s about depth. Every sunrise, every face, every wave reminds us how truly connected we are — farther and together.
