There’s so much noise in our lives today. It’s loud, distracting, disquieting… and honestly, downright obnoxious. It drowns out everything else and effects our mental and physical well-being. Everywhere we turn, someone or something is trying to grab our attention, shape our thinking, or rile us up. No wonder so many people feel overwhelmed.
So how do we deal with the noise?
Turn it off. Cold turkey.
Start small and simple:
• Turn off the TV.
• Turn off the radio.
• Limit social media.
• Sit in silence.
• Meditate. Even for five minutes.
• Refuse to be manipulated by outside forces.
Because the truth is, we already know what’s right. That inner voice, the one we often ignore, is our moral compass. And when the outside noise stops, we can finally hear it again.
Do the right thing — not sometimes, not when it’s convenient — all the time.
Be empathetic. Be kind. Be patient with your loved ones, your neighbors, the stranger who crosses your path.
Despite what we hear, despite what the shouting world wants us to believe, we are all one. We share the same needs, the same hopes, the same fears and the same desires. We need each other now more than ever.
The secret to staying sane in an insane world?
Shut out the madness, tune in to your soul, and choose compassion — every single day.
