We are all living stories. But some of us become conscious narrators. That’s where the sacred enters. To tell our own story with presence, purpose, and perspective is to awaken to something greater than narrative alone. It is to trace the divine arc in the seemingly mundane.
The Courtroom as Stage, the Self as Storyteller
As a trial lawyer, I have seen how stories change everything. The way a case is told can make the difference between justice and injustice. In truth, every trial is a story—a human drama seeking meaning and resolution. But what about the stories we tell ourselves?
We become our own witnesses. We argue our identity every day: to ourselves, to the world, to something beyond. We cherry-pick facts, suppress inconvenient truths, reframe history. We are judge and jury, prosecutor and defender.
But what if we became the sacred storyteller? The one who tells the truth not just to win, but to wake up?
Travel as the Hero’s Journey
Every trip my wife Debbie and I take through FARTHER Together is, at its core, a pilgrimage. We pack our bags and step into the unknown. We answer the call to adventure. We face delays, missed flights, and culture shock. We are tested. We grow.

Through this mythic lens, each journey becomes a spiritual initiation. We return not just with souvenirs, but with soul.
Ancient Myths in Modern Skin
The myths of old still breathe in us: Odysseus, Rama, Buddha, Jesus, Mohammed, Isis. They were not just characters but archetypes—mirrors for our own transformations.
Who hasn’t wandered lost like Odysseus? Or longed for the promised land like Moses? Or stood in the fire of change like Sita?
In sacred storytelling, we don’t just admire these myths. We embody them. They give our lives resonance and symbolic truth.
The Power of Naming
In law, naming a thing gives it legal standing. In storytelling, naming brings clarity. Spiritually, naming can be healing.
To name your grief is to start moving through it. To name your desire is to invite fulfillment. To name your chapter is to own the pen.
Weaving the Sacred into the Ordinary
Not every moment is epic. But every moment can be sacred. Whether you are delivering a closing argument or sipping tea at sunrise, you are living a mythic life when you are awake to its meaning.
Sacred storytelling asks: What is the deeper meaning of this moment? How does this scene fit into the larger arc? Who are you becoming?
You are the hero. You are the narrator. You are the divine author.
The sacred story is not out there.
It is you.
