Peranakan Elegance in the Heart of Singapore
A vibrant glimpse into Singapore’s storied past—this richly ornamented shophouse façade in the Katong-Joo Chiat district showcases the distinctive beauty of Peranakan architecture. With intricate floral plasterwork, bold color palettes, and shuttered windows framed by delicate fretwork, it’s a living tribute to the blended heritage of Chinese, Malay, and European influences. There were so many beautiful windows and facades but this one stood out to me because of the vibrant marigold color and intricate details.
