We’ve unpacked our bags, but a week after returning to Dallas, our hearts remain tethered to the romantic lakes of Udaipur, the towering Himalayas of Nepal, and the tranquil monasteries of Bhutan.
Each country offered its own palette of wonder. In India, we soaked in the quiet beauty of Udaipur—its palaces floating on water, its sunsets washing the sky in gold. Nepal welcomed us with chaotic charm and quiet moments of spiritual clarity, while Bhutan wrapped us in its high-altitude serenity, where prayer flags flutter like whispers of peace in the wind. Those prayer flags will forever flutter in the internal winds of our memories.
More than the remarkable sites, though, it was the feeling we carried with us—of presence, stillness, and mindfulness—that left the deepest imprint. These places have a way of holding space for reflection. Maybe it’s the centuries of prayer echoing in temple walls, or the smiles of strangers who seem to know something about contentment that the modern world has forgotten.
Now, a week later, we find ourselves craving that feeling again. The seemingly limitless chaos of what’s happening in our own country feels sharper, the noise of division louder. And yet, we hold on to what we learned—that peace isn’t a place, but a practice. You have to want it and work hard at it these days.
We know we’ll go back. The Himalayas are calling, the rivers and temples waiting. We return changed, and someday, we’ll return again to continue the transformation.
Abundance, peace, and perspective—India, Nepal, and Bhutan gave us all three.
Until next time,
Debbie & Stratton
